The Sampling Decision Assistant was developed as a project for UNHCR in 2018. The tool is designed to help with the design of sampling schemes. It is for sampling that is done to provide estimates of the values of characteristics of a population. Such studies are aimed at observing the population and measuring the factors of interest without trying to change anything. This type of study is used for things like profiling populations, setting baselines and assessing the value of indicators at midline or end-line points. The decisions you make when designing this kind of study are about how you will sample the population. It is a website that guides the user through a sequence of decisions that eventually build a sampling scheme. The process can be started, saved and continued on a different session. It contains help about how to use the tool, explanation about statistical issues that are of importance when designing a sampling scheme and a sampling glossary. The resulting set of decisions can be downloaded as a printable file.
