An annotated 'reading list' of resources that, together, can provide an understanding the basics of field note taking for researchers, field staff, students, and other players in a research project. The resources can be used to plan training on field note taking.Field notes are a way of capturing ephemeral, often unstructured information that would otherwise be lost. For example, for researchers involved in on-farm trials, comments and observations made by farmers can provide important insights; taking field notes allows a researcher to systematically document such information. The resources signposted in this document should provide a good grounding on what field notes are and how to best make use of them as part of a research project.
