This is an abridged version of the paper: ‘An integrated agro-ecosystem and livelihood systems approach for the poor and vulnerable in dry areas.’ - Published in food security in 2013 by Van-Ginkel and other authors. In these videos, Carlos Barahona explains the key points on how to take a 'systems-based' approach to your study design, as described in the Van-Ginkel paper. We also provide a link to the original paper for reference. This first video explores the current situation throughout much agricultural research, then guides you through an example 'systems' diagram of a drylands system to help identify potential levers of change.
